About Mark

I have lived in Victoria, beautiful British Columbia since 2019.
The photo at left is from many years ago when I was living in Vancouver, BC.
Most of my free time is spent photographing nature - mostly birds, but also other wildlife and landscapes (see link to my photography web site).
I grew up in England with a Canadian mother and British father, moving to Canada in my late twenties.
Originally an Astronomer at the Royal Greenwich Observatory, most of my working life has been as a software developer, including work on the first Electronic Picture Desk and later Digital Asset Management (DAM) software.
Currently working on ERP software for the travel industry and enjoying life on Vancouver Island.
I have a number of projects planned in addition to nature photography, including a long overdue update to the catalogue of the art of Nova Scotia artist Gladys Thorne (my grandmother).
